Fiber Optic Cabling · Los Angeles, CA
Backbone and building-to-building fiber, fusion splicing, termination, and documented testing, installed by a team that also configures the network on each end.
Quick answer
Fiber optic cabling carries data as light through glass strands instead of electricity through copper. It supports far longer distances and higher speeds than copper, isn't affected by electrical interference, and is the standard choice for building backbones, connections between buildings, and high-bandwidth links.
Los Angeles IT installs, splices, terminates, and tests fiber optic cabling for Los Angeles businesses from our Century City headquarters. Because we also configure the network equipment on each end, your fiber is installed with the switches and transceivers it needs to work. Projects are quoted after a site walk, and repairs are $95 per hour.
What's Included
Fiber designed, installed, tested, and connected to your network by one team.
Fiber runs between your main network room and floor closets, so every floor gets fast, interference-free connectivity.
Backbone fiber →/ 02Indoor/outdoor and direct-burial fiber linking buildings on a campus, warehouse, or business park.
Campus fiber →/ 03Fusion splicing, pigtails, and LC/SC connectors terminated in rack-mount enclosures, cleanly labeled.
Splicing →/ 04OTDR and light-loss testing on every strand, with results documented so you know the link performs.
Testing →/ 05The right fiber type for your distances and equipment, from short in-building multimode to long single-mode links.
Fiber types →/ 06Locating breaks and bad splices, re-terminating damaged connectors, and restoring links quickly.
Fiber repair →/ 07Adding strands, upgrading old multimode, and expanding fiber to new floors, suites, or buildings.
Network upgrades →/ 08Fiber backbones paired with Cat6/Cat6A horizontal cabling, designed as one structured system.
Data cabling →/ 09Fiber transceivers, switches, and uplinks installed and configured by the same IT team.
Network setup →Fiber vs. Copper
Most networks use both: copper to the desk, fiber for the backbone and longer runs.
| Fiber optic | Copper (Cat6/Cat6A) | |
|---|---|---|
| Distance | ✓ Hundreds of meters to kilometers | Up to 100 meters per run |
| Speed headroom | ✓ 10G, 40G, 100G and beyond | Up to 10G on Cat6A |
| Electrical interference | ✓ Immune | Can be affected |
| Between buildings | ✓ Safe, no ground issues | Not recommended |
| Powering devices (PoE) | Not possible | ✓ Yes |
| Best for | Backbones and long links | Desks, phones, cameras, APs |
How It Works
Fiber work is precise. We document every strand so the next person knows exactly what's there.
STEP 01
We map routes between rooms and buildings, check existing conduit and pathways, and confirm the speeds and equipment involved.
STEP 02
You get a fiber plan with fiber type, strand count, termination, and testing, plus a fixed quote.
STEP 03
We pull fiber through conduit and pathways, fusion-splice and terminate in enclosures, and label everything.
STEP 04
We test each strand, document results, and install and configure the switches and transceivers on each end.
Pricing
Fiber installation cost depends on distance, indoor vs. outdoor routing, existing conduit, strand count, fiber type, and the number of terminations. Every quote starts with a site walk, so the price reflects your building, not a guess.
Fiber repairs, troubleshooting, and re-termination are $95 per hour. Network equipment on each end can be included in the project or supported on our managed IT plans from $300/month.
Fiber Optic Cabling
Tell us where the fiber needs to go and what it connects. We'll schedule a site walk and send a plan and quote.
Fiber Types
Multimode fiber (OM3/OM4) is common inside buildings for shorter backbone runs and uses lower-cost optics. Single-mode fiber (OS2) handles much longer distances and higher future speeds, and is the usual choice between buildings and for long campus runs.
We recommend based on your distances, existing equipment, and growth plans, and often install extra strands so future needs don't require a new pull.
Testing
A fiber link is only as good as its splices and connectors. We fusion-splice pigtails for low-loss terminations, mount them in rack enclosures, and clean and inspect every connector.
Each strand is tested with a light-loss meter and, where needed, an OTDR, which shows splice and connector loss along the run. You get documented results for every link.
Repair
When a fiber link goes down, it's usually a damaged connector, a bad patch cable, a failed transceiver, or a physical break. We test from both ends to find the fault, clean or re-terminate connectors, replace optics, and splice breaks.
Because we also manage network infrastructure, we can tell whether the problem is the glass or the equipment.

FAQ
It depends on distance, routing, conduit, strand count, fiber type, and terminations. We quote after a site walk. Repairs are $95 per hour.
Fiber is used when a run exceeds 100 meters, between buildings, for network backbones between closets, and where you need higher speeds or electrical isolation.
Multimode is used for shorter in-building runs with lower-cost optics. Single-mode supports much longer distances and is standard between buildings.
Yes. We fusion-splice pigtails and repairs for low-loss connections and terminate in rack-mount enclosures.
Yes. Every strand is tested for light loss, with OTDR testing where required, and results are documented.
